Travel Vaccinations
If you may require vaccinations or malaria prevention relating to foreign travel you need to complete a travel assessment form. These can be collected from the practice reception, and a downloadable version will be available shortly. Please be as specific as you can regarding your place(s) of stay and previous vaccination history, including any allergic reactions. Once you have completed the form, please contact the practice to arrange a telephone consultation with a doctor to discuss your vaccination requirements. Should any vaccinations be required, the doctor will arrange a time for you to attend the practice to have your vaccination(s) administered. Most vaccinations require administration no later than two weeks prior to travel.
There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below
It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Most travel vaccines are ordered on a normal prescription and do not incur a charge. Some vaccinations and malaria prophylaxis are ordered on a private prescription. Any of the local chemists can advise on the cost of individual private prescriptions.
